been to many hydro stores but mgs is by far the best, they will never look at you like your stupid no matter what you ask and will always give you the right advice i been shopping there for a few years when they were at there last location ...to the point visit mgs for your stuff and find out for yourself .

...new Hayward resident. They will not try and sell you what you do not need, quite the opposite. I have been there and watched, and the advice is dead on... to the point that they will tell you that you do not need this or that, and offer a better alternative, even if it is cheaper, or that you do not ned an item at all.
For someone new to hydroponics, I could not suggest a better place. Berkeley has a great place near I80 and University as well, but for further south East Bay residents there is not an equal to MGS. Even if you are Equidistant, I would suggest MGS... it is only that the Berkeley place has a better selection that I do not rate this as the best East Bay shop. However, MGS has moved... and from what they were telling me, they were expanding merchandise... thus the move. I have not been there since the move (only need supplies every few months), so I can not give a new comparison. However, once again, if you want advice, GOOD advice, someone you can trust, head to MGS. I have never met the Owner, so I am unsure of his style... the above relates only to his main employee (forgot name, sorry!). White mid-20\'s guy, just beyond shoulder length semi-curly hair. Friendly staff that spent a considerable amount of time explaining everything about hydroponics. I\'d recommend them to anyone.
